Saying Good-bye
In my life I have said good bye to several things, people, & places. But none hurt as bad as saying good bye to Gramps. I didn't get to say goodbye... I wrote him a letter and my mom read it to him. But yesterday morning he passed away. He is in a better place now. But I wasn't done living with him here. My own selfish desire over rides my longing for him to be at peace. He is out of pain. He is in a better place. He lived a good life. Taught, loved, shared, blessed, laughed and so much more. His legacy is everything you would want when you pass away. To leave behind a family whose memory of you is that of amazement and love.
The last few days of his life were rough-- I will miss him-- I DO MISS HIM. It will not be the same to be with the whole family (which hasn't happened in at least 8 years- BUT WILL HAPPEN THIS WEEKEND AS WE GATHER TO HONOR- REMEMBER AND CELEBRATE HIS LIFE) and to not have Gramps there. Gramps we love you-- we will honor your legacy for love, faith, and life!

My prayers are with you Christy. And although you could not be there to say goodbye, it was wonderful that your letter was read to him in time. He is at peace right now, and I'm sure in time you will be too.
I am crying on your behalf :(
Take comfort in your family and celebrate your Gramps' life!
It's so nice that you wrote him a letter. I didn't know that. I love you.
hugs,
erin
